“Recently we had an excellent lecture delivered by Steve Short. This was a lecture that covered many aspects of Johnny Harts career with how Johnny started by being the first winner of The Young Magician of the Year Competition right up to the present day. The lecture is very well structured with archive film of Johnny's performances over the years. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute as it brought back many memories and I would certainly recommend this lecture for all clubs who have an interest in history and performers of the past.”
John O'Riordan - President of Mid Essex Magic Society
“This was an eye opening and fascinating lecture delivered by Steve Short in the run up to his new book “Johnny Hart International Star of Magic”. Steve's hard work and tireless research along with the multitude of interviews conducted with Johnny and his friends provided a heart warming and also a very revealing story behind Johnny’s career and how his personal life and devotion to magic interacted with each other as he climbed the entertainment ladder to great success.
From the evolution of his craft and the very well known people that influenced him, intermingled with the pressure and pitfalls of this unsociable and then intensely sociable job, it was a story that took you back to a time when we had huge stars in entertainment and Johnny worked with them all! With rare photos and video clips to bring the stories to life Steve also presented videos showing Johnny’s visual skill in action and how it developed over time, this was a joy to see! The book has many details not revealed in this lecture, so order your book now! I’m very much looking forward to this fascinating read."
